really? i find it interesting and quite surprising. i would never have thought that. makarova's odete/odile is unsurpassed for me, but not giselle. i feel the same way about leigh's blanche though :)
anyway, i think osipova is a great great ballerina, unique, one of a kind, consumate, subtle AND original in her acting. and of course unveleievable physicality. to see her do really well in giselle see her performances with david hallberg of ABT. have a lovely day!

Don't you think that that's a very arrogant thing to say? 'Natalia' is only the western way of spelling the name that sounds, 'Natalia'. There are lots of different spellings of the name.
On videos, I have heard Natalia's teacher calling her Natasha. (It is a common Russian version of 'Natalia')

its obvious from the comments that most of you are far to accustomed seeing those awful greyhound-looking Ballerinas of modern times. Osipova is anything but ill-fitted to this role. If only we had a time machine, so that we could go back into time to see a REAL ballerina...they are a dying breed, and Osipova is among the last of them.
