i think no japanese hate this instrument of Noh and Kabuki. but can you imagine you can buy a car at the same price of these drums. it's really crazy.. in Korea and China, traditional instruments are much more opened to the civics.. these drums are made in tradition of Japan, but not for the ordinaries.. traditional anyways..

It's to serve as signals to keep all the performers together. The Kakegoe shouts(yep, that's what they're called) slow down or speed up the tempo, lower or heighten the energy level...-quotes from notes and textbk-..........at least, that's WHAT i learned:D
