Greek history is actually African history. WAKE UP!!!!

White slavery and black slavery are not synonymous. The dynamics of European Slavery in contrast to that of African American Slavery is very different. America became the richest country in the world because they usurped 400 years of free labor.

A Phi A is the pioneer and standard bearer of what it means to be in a fraternal order. I have MAJOR respect for them.....and most importantly for the foresight of the 7 Jewels in organizing, identifying, consolidating, expanding and laying the groundwork of what would be a fraternal historical living legacy.....my props to you A Phi A....

@kevincamYou did not answer the Bro question his concerns was hazing you equivocated on that part. So many young Brothers wnt to join a frat but, hazing has become a problem of good Bro joining our ranks.

As a college student, I admire The men of Alpha Phi Alpha. The chapter in my area took me under their wing when I was in high school. I also admire the sororities as well because they have courage and determination. On the outside looking in, it seems to me that the founders of Alpha Phi Alpha had a lot of strength, wisdom and courage to found a black organization on an all White campus when there was so much racism at the that time.

@Leron90 There are plenty of Alpha men who have dreads. If your undergrad chapter requires you to cut your hair and that goes against your religion, then I would suggest that you join an alumni chapter after you have graduated from college.

@anthonyadewumi Aight let me start by saying that U do not put your business out on what U are trying to pledge on the internet. That's something U dont do. And Alpha partied are fundraisers to raise money so we can have money in our chapter account so it can be used to give away food, do community service, etc.

Exactly what kevincam said!!! Also, don't let that stop you.
i'm a college student and is interested in joining a frat like A phi A but my only problem is the hazing and stuff. I want 2 join because of the development of leadership and the goals of making a positive impact on my surrounding environment. Maybe it's the chapter at my school but it seems frats have forgotten their purpose and are just partying and stuff..but i luv the Alpha's cuz they have such great pioneers! what do you all think?

I don't know what is going on with the chapter on your campus, but you should start by getting to know the brothers in that chapter and keep in mind that you have to decide why you want to join, it's a give and take, you should be thinking about what you will gain from membership, but also what you have to offer to the fraternity.

I want to pledge but my religion will not allow me to cut my hair. I have neat dreads. I have never wanted anything more but i am not / dont think I am willing to compramise my faith to achieve Alpha. I am torn, I don't know what to do. What do you guys think?

Cutting of your hair is not a requirement, if the chapter you are interested in really wants you in their chapter they can still let you join. If they don't really want you in their chapter then the could be using this as an excuse.

I'm lost. Maybe you all can help me out. I love NPHC greek organizations, but why is it worth all of the turmoil to get in one. What exactly are you getting that makes the pledging process worth going through?

Everyone does not join for the same reasons. The best advice I have for you is to first find out what each organization is about and decide if what they have to offer is of interest to you. What I find valuable and my reasons for joining may not be what you find important. It's like finding a wife, all women have the same physical characteristics but each person is still different in their own way. These diferences are also between chapters within the same organization. Hope that helps a little.
