@ViVi80 this was the 1980's. triple lutzes were practically non-existent for ladies, and being able to pull off a triple loop near the end of the decade was seen as one of the highest achievements of figure skating.

She has pretty good jump technique, and good height on her jumps too. how come she never went on to develop most of her jumps into triples? ( because by the early 90s, at the olympics etc, it would be impossible to even medal without more triples)
Not that triples are everything; it's just that she already has the artistry, presence, the charm...if she had more triple jumps she would have been a tough one to beat for many more years.

This was 1984 and the Zayak rule was in effect which also reduced the number of triples the girls would do.

Back then it wasn't all about the Triple Jumps for the Ladies. Katrina was a beautiful skater!
