Freddy alone is awesome. Montserrat alone is awesome. But, when you put the two together in a piece like this you have something that shakes the very foundations of the universe, itself! We shall never see the like of this again in our lifetimes. When Freddie's brilliant light went out the world became a very dark place, indeed!

the recording is live but the vocals are probably mimed, because they are exactly the same as the shorter recording. I think its likely because although this was largely with queen as a whole, freddie mercury would change up a lot of his songs for live vocals, setting lower notes so he doesn't lose his voice, and to offer some variety.
