This is video of the 5th Annual Great Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942 Reenactment at fort McArthur.

The Battle of Los Angeles refers to an unidentified flying object event which took place from late February 24 to early February 25, 1942 in which eyewitness reports of an unknown object or objects over Los Angeles, California triggered a massive anti-aircraft artillery barrage.
Initially the target of the barrage was thought to be an attacking force from Japan, but it was later suggested to be a lost weather balloon, a blimp, a Japanese fire balloon or psychological warfare technique, staged for the benefit of coastal industrial sites, or even an extraterrestrial aircraft. The true nature of the object or objects remains unknown.

  • Why Fireworks?

It ain't something to celebrate lol

  • The fireworks were supposed to simulate Anti Aircraft fire.

  • Why did they have to ruin it with fireworks?

  • They were trying to replicate Flak and other AA fire. I agree with you, when I heard there was going to be fireworks I thought they were going to have the ones that just go up and explode with out all the colors and whistles.

  • Cool, do I hear a UK made Secomak/Carter hand siren in there? Sounds like it, as I have one of each type at home, and they sound just like it.

  • Yeah,They Had 2 or 3 Hand turned sirens and one Huge one. They also had another 50 cal, 30 cal, and canon fireing blanks which were on the other side of the base so I couldnt get them into the shot.

  • Ma deuce looks pretty impressive at night :) Not to mention the sirens. If you think about it, this video highlights inventions of John Moses Browning, the greatest firearms designer that ever lived, and Earl Gosswiller, the greatest siren designer that ever lived.

  • no 40mm bofors cannon ?? best AA EVER

  • If more people would go to this they would receive more DONATIONS and could not only make it better, but keep it up as the city wants to take FORT MCARTHUR OUT TO PUT IN CONDOS AND A DOG PARK! People PLEASE donate to one of the last WORKING monuments we have to our VETERENS!!!

  • is this siren a FS SD10 low tone or a FS 500T?

  • Nice video. Good siren, too.

  • Woah! They set off a 500T?!?!?!

  • Wrong! It's actually a 500T (shallow dish), but I can see where thunderbolt1003 is coming from thinking it's an Allertor. The 500T has a 9/12 port chopper in it, just like the Allertor has.

  • The spot lights need increased in number and to be much more pronounced to get the full effect. And a lot more firing. Make it a big reenactment of the real one, for the entire valley to see, just like it was back in 42'. The best way to fund this? GET A PRODUCER TO FUND A FULL SCALE MOVIE of the original event.

  • Or maybe someone was seeing something that wasn't there.
