Contrary to what we are told. there are more and more examples of
Palestinians and Israelis working together for a better, fairer, more
just future. Here Palestinians & Israeli nonviolent activists, from
Youth Against Settlements (Hebron) and Ta'ayush (Israeli) co-operate in
Hebron to oppose the settler synagogue, illegally built on the lands of
Abdel Karim Al Jaberi. On the edge of Hebron, in the Wadi al-Hussein
valley, are the settlements of Kiryat Arba, a town of 7,000 people, and
Givat Ha'avot. Between them lies private land belonging to the extended
Al-Jabaari family that the settlers from the two settlements seem
determined to take over. They have built a small synagogue on the land
of Abdel Karim Al-Jabaari, which has been demolished by the Israeli
army several times because it is illegal. It is now maintained under a
tent and more permanent structures, like walls and religious symbols,
have been added. A paved pathway with streetlights has been laid
between the two settlements across the privately owned Jabaari land,
for settlers to use to get to the synagogue. The settlements are
connected by a contiguous strip of roads leading from Kiryat Arba to
the tomb of Abraham in the Old City, and onto Shuhada Street.
Palestinians are not allowed to use these roads. FOR MORE INFORMATION
SEE THE INTERNET/FACEBOOK SITES OF YOUTH AGAINST SETTLEMENTS and
TA'AYUSH.

  • Also I think groups that, in the context of this conflict, fight only against the policies of once side (IE Israel) and ignore the policies of others (iE Hamas and the PA) do not help the conflict. They encourage those to fight against the wrongs of one whilst ignoring those of another. But israelis and palestinians working together is always magic!

  • I am completely opposed to settlements - as a Jew and a Zionist. In this particular context I agree with you, this synagogue has no place there. however, Hebron itself does not only require an answer of legality. In1929 the Jewish community were all killed or raped and exiled - the right of Jews to return there is questionable given it's historic ties with Judaism. If, though, the same principle isn't given to Palestinians by Israel, it shouldn't be given to Jews either. Speak fair, speak real

  • מה לגבי 95% מחברון שסגורה ליהודים?

What about 95% of Hebron closed only to Jews?! Stop your lies!!!
