Nightracing on Circuit de Catalunya. Track lighting is provided via 12v LEDS mounted into shaver heads on poles. The effect turned out great!. My track is designed on the famous circuit de catalunya in Spain. Scalextric track painted and copper taped, digital system heavily modified and lap timing run through a PC. Great fun to drive!

  • Really well done. Do you mind my asking what you used for night lighting around the layout. I'm building a 28' X 11' layout and I'm trying to find an answer to that. Thanks, Ron.

  • @newworldimage Cheers! Ok so for the lights I bought packets of pre-made LED lights (with wires and resistors built in. Then I mounted them on a Shaver handle glued to a plastic tube. The wires run inside the tube up the base of the handle to the light. under the track i created a 12v 'bus' that all the lights were simply soldered to. Really I spent a long time working out how to do it - but it was all pretty simple and quick to do. I might try make a video sometime on how i made the lights.

  • Hello. Love the layout. I was especially interested in the buildings and the street lights. Do you mind me asking what you used for the streetlights? Also, are the building in pit row scratch built? Cheers, Ron.

  • @newworldimage SOrry i meant to reply to this earlier. Yes all buildings scratch built based on the real catalunya track. Mainly just using cardboard and foam card, and all lit internally with LED's. The mesh fencing is the mesh tape used for drywall plastering - painted grey. The Lights are all LED and running off 12v power supply.

  • How big is this layout?

I made the switch from 1/32 to 1/24 to run at the local track.

  • @Jigsaw3477 Hey. layout is 2.2m x 4.8m

  • What software were you using for your race monitoring, and what kind of interface cable? One reason I like Carrera is that they have a manufacturer provided cable and software solution, but it would be nice to do that with SSD as well.

  • Love the lighting in the pits and the cars nice track mate

  • Great job want one !!

  • chido.

  • can any-1 plz tell me how much this track set costs? Also which is the best web site to buy slot item? Thanks...

  • Muy bueno el vídeo, lástima lo corto..!

  • .... They don't get you enough letters to finish anything real. Anyways this is the link to my humble You Tube video of my track called "Venzano Classic". Each track I have build have stayed up for about 3 to 4 months then it's time for Spring cleaning and it all goes away till next December. That's why I want to get my 7.3m X3.3m X 2.4m layout going in my garage. Presently have a 16' X 11' X 8' HO train layout there. Have to move it out first. Best Regard, Ron.

  • ....Wait.. There's more! I really wish I could get a better look at your buildings. Did you just use hobby knives and yard stick for cutting? paint and putty plastic, decals? They are great too. I have a video of one of my tracks. I'll take over an entire room about the first December. It's play time for me. I set up a layout - usually new- then add stuff all over the room, then buy about 30 to 50 new cars - Im ridiculous. Then I do a film of the track one night to remember it by it by. ------->

  • Shaver handle! BRILliant!!! They look great. I stumbled upon an idea that boarders on genius - I opened my cupboard and there it was. BENDABLE DRINKING STRAWS.It was like one of those moments when the camera moves in on your face while the background flies away in a frenzy..

.... They stand at .2m high and bend at any angle you prefer. Paint them grey and make a rectangular slit where the light is to shine through. Well anyway it seems fast and easy.
