The "Secret Agent Man", Johnny Rivers, Produced This Single By Al Wilson In The Late 60's Called "The Snake". It Has A Superb "Soul City" Sound With Outstanding Horns And Overall Musical Arrangement. You'll Hear "Real Instruments" On This Classic Northern Soul Groove.

  • You gotta check out on You Tube the version by the Liverpool Five....this is good but the LP5's is fantastic

  • For a correct history lesson you need to be reminded that this fabulous tune full of phallic connotations was first written and recorded in the early 1960s by the great Oscar Brown Jnr as an album track. Al Wilson's version is er really just a carbon copy of Oscar's vocal and music arrangement . Between the Oscar and Al versions came the Liverpool Five as noted by others. Their version changed up the vocals and arrangement and has comedic overtones reminiscent of the Coasters.Check it out,

  • @ENS64 Just heard both the Oscar Brown and Liverpool Five versions on You Tube and they are great but so is Al's. But the others are not that well known upto now.
