It doesn't mean you hate gay people because you want them to follow the law as opposed to trying to enact Fiat declarations in the court system that ignore the legal process an the rule of law. Marriage is not listed as a federal power, therefore, it defaults to the states by 10th amendment. Same thing with abortion, federal tax money has no place going to fund it, unless it's in the Constitution as an enumerated power. Damn son.

@christo930 Your argument is terrible, marriage licenses are in fact a handout for taxation and several other things, as far as those other things are concerned, you need to make up your mind. If you don't need a marriage license for any of those things. Then the gay marriage issue is moot, if you do then without question a marriage license is a government handouts license. So you're either arguing for something that's completely unnecessary or you're arguing for a government handouts license

@bigboss686 Do you honestly believe that every single issue in the world needs to be explicitly expressed in the constitution or it becomes a 10th amendment issue? The fed gov has enumerated powers, not enumerated issues. Abortion and marriage are both seriously intertwined with rights outlined in the amendments to the constitution and that is what gives the fed gov the power to overturn state laws that don't respect the constitution.

@christo930 Far as marriage is concerned it's a license to acquire certain government benefits/handouts. Therefore, it falls under treatment, not protection. Just because someone else is getting a handout doesn't mean you're entitled to it. I know difficult concept for you BIG government libertarians to get, but that's the way it is. @bigboss686 The court has the constitutional authority to overturn state laws that are unconstitutional. Denial of right to contract alone is enough to overturn any anti gay marriage bill. There is also equal protection under the law (I don't buy your previous rebuttal). You want to use big gov to force YOUR religious views on others. You, like most Christian right (not libertarian), LOVE big gov when it suits YOUR needs. Anti abortion laws have similar problems like 4th amendment..
