@insaneAlchemyOfeviI just FYI, this is a bell 214 B1 the blades on this are bigger than the original huey, and so it the engine, this is a heavy lift chopper
-
@pf126p LOL Right? just cuzz you can, don't meen you should.

the old days in the US ARMY, crew chiefs do this sort of stunt all the time. there's another about a silly landing. a bell jet ranger, still airborne, puts it's rear skids on a bridge guard rail. perfectly normal manuever. these are some of the wonders of helicopters. i could do the bridge manuever with a Bell 47. 210 hp franklin engine and spruce blades, you know, wooden blades?

This isn't anything abnormal.. I've worked on helicopters and this wouldn't even be unusual. More dangerous than this is several thousand PSI hydraulic lines breaking, things hitting the tail rotor, falling off the top, lifting shit with a crane, and just general day to day stuff.. Working on helicopter is fucking dangerous in general, but is awesome.

@N321MM Exactly, the same thing happens here all the time in the RNZAF!!

If you had chosen a title that matches the video, like 'man gets close to rotor blades' You would get more 'likes' than 'dislikes'.

how is this a close call?
it might have been stupid. and safer to do with the engine off. but to be fair the guy looked like he knew exactly what he was doing and like he had done it before a lot.

@Howad83 Rather like knowing just how far you can shove your hand down a garbage disposal.
