tatally agree with hart and soul hand engraving, i dont want to hear a compresser while working,but it's very hard to learn any tips for someone starting out ?

Honestly, you could start with a flat brass plate, use a #4 or 5 single line graver. Start by making squares, circles, and strait lines. Practice until all sides of the square are the same depth and width. This is the best way to start and to become familiar with your tools and hand pressure. And don't forget, Alot of patience!

Some of them come sharpened, if they are not, I would use a diamond grit sharpening stone, you can find them in jewelry supply stores.

I get most of my gravers from jewelry supply stores in downtown Los Angeles, I hope that helps.

Some of the knives I make in my own and some if them I buy from the jewelry stores and shape them down to my liking. Sorry, I do nit sell my gravers, some of them have been passed down to me and are over 75 years old. Thank you for the offer.
