@waynedanberry Since I don't know what interview you speak of, I can't address whatever Zappa had to say about him. No doubt he was held in pretty equal regard to Johnny "Guitar" Watson as an influence, though. The song "Advance Romance" from Bongo Fury features an interpolation of this song. It's been referred to as an homage, as the album was recorded in Austin.
