CHICAGO—Mayor Richard Daly held a gun conference today in South Chicago, an area known for its prolific gun violence. Amongst those present was Pamela Bosley, a mother who lost her son Terrell in 2006. Terrell was shot in a church parking lot just before band practice. He was not a gang member.
Daly promoted his gun buy-back program, which pays people money to give up their guns. Last year, the city collected over 7,000 guns. This year the city hopes to break that record with the assistance of 25 local churches.
