"Wings of desire" library

Just like in Tarkovsky`s "Stalker" in this remarkable movie of Win Wenders we can see a "thin line" between sound and picture, and thats is what I love.

Many years ago I studied at those tables in the Staatsbibliothek. I used to feel in a library the way I feel as I watch this beautiful scene.

I wonder... as much as I love the internet, if we will lose something very important that once lived in our libraries, lose the whispered spirit of knowledge that used to speak to us all among these books.

Kermode was reviewing Warhorse today and it raised the question of films that make you cry. There are many scenes in this film that make me well up but this is probably the premier. I can't help it. Touches the emotions.

I think I have seen this movie over 20 times since it came out. I saw it first in Paris, talking in German to an American friend who did not speak French. Perfect situation for a Babel movie...
