One of the most unique cover tunes you will ever hear.

All or most of their albums are out-of-print.

YES - they did record the Sgt. Pepper's album, track by track, in it's entirety. No, I haven't heard the whole thing. 4 tracks from that album are available on The Best Of.. album.

This is cool, but my all-time favorite is their version of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", though also of note is "Once In a Lifetime" done in the style of "The Banana Boat Song"), "Hotel California" done in the style of "Runaway" and "Money for Nothing" in the style of "Sixteen Tons".

Try Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Big-Daddy/e/B000AQ00XQ/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_3?_encoding=...
(NOT all albums shown there are theirs - watch this video to see their albums.)

Currently I see ONE entry at EBay at:
http://music.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=%22Big+Daddy%22+-Kane+-Voodoo+-Yankee+...

No, I don't know how to make links. HELP!

A few of the Daddies also recorded a short album as The Benzedrine Monks(?), doing Gregorian Chant style versions of great pop hits, including "(Theme from) The Monk(ee)s"

PS Thanks, Brian!

  • What Big Daddy did was to sing recent songs in the style of songs from the 50's. In this case, they did Whip It by Devo in the manner of King of the Road by Roger Miller. It's not their most successful effort, but it's a complement to both songs. If you don't appreciate both of these songs, then this is not for you.

  • @JonniusAngelicus um -what similarities are there to this and King of The Road? That there is whistling in it or...??? I always thought of this as a more done in a general musical style, rather than a specific song style, no? Thanks for watching and for the comment! :)

  • What an insult to Devo. What is this, Leave it to Beaver!

  • @RedPortiaOne I think it's called humor and satire. Devo even satirized themselves on the two volumes of DEVO EZ-Listening. I think they'd approve.

  • @JonniusAngelicus: You're not immediately familiar with the King of the Road style. I grew up listening to those songs in the '70s and yeah, I can see the resemblence, though it isn't probably meant to be an exact mashup.

  • great cover!

  • I never how this songs about S&M

  • Why????????????????????

  • The backstory of "Big Daddy": they were sent to SE Asia to entertain US troops that were not 'officially" there. When the band was captured by guerillas, no one would rescue them. Held until the late 70's, the 'phantom' band of SE Asia was finally rescued when a cheap monster movie production scared off the guerillas. When Big Daddy was being debriefed, all they had to listen to was an AM radio playing 70's hits, so they play them in the style they knew when they were captured.

  • Hm, this is odd. This is like the time I heard Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me in the style of Frank Sinatra.
