  • I want to get some equipment for the garage. I work in a Heavy equipment shop and we come across great deals on equipment so I figured why not get a lathe and drill and make this into a hobby and sell them around my area just as a hobby and maybe make a few bucks. Where do you buy the Reeds that aren't attached to an existing Company and how do you make the insert on your own so its truly your own? You didn't make a Duck Call you only Made the Part that goes on the actual Call part...Any Help?

  • @punx8086 I would check with "Echo calls" they may sell the reeds separately

  • can you use a mini lathe

  • Yes a mini lathe is perfect for making calls.

  • Hey Carl. The call turned out great! I don't have any cocobolo. But i do have some good pieces of purple heart. Would that be a good wood to make a call? Is it hard enough? Thanks for your help

    Jason

  • Hi Jason

It is a hardwood. I do not know how it will hold up in the field, but is worth a try. It is a good hardwood. Be sure to seal it up well.

    Thanks,

    Carl

  • that looks sweet!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Skip,

It just fits in the live center the collet chuck is holding the pin chuck,

  • Thanks Carl. So the pin chuck spins inside the the M2 empty tailstock? It looks like your tailstock has been ground down to a flat surface?

  • Hi Skip,

You can pop out the insert in the tail stock and it leaves it open.

    Thanks,

    Carl
