The Episcopal Church rescinds the Moratorium enacted at the 2006 General Convention in response to the Anglican Communion's request that the Episcopal Church refrain from ordaining and consecrating non-celibate homosexuals until there is consensus in the Anglican Communion. At the 2009 General Convention both houses took action that nullified that moratorium. In this video, we see the live vote of the House of Bishops on July 13, 2009 at General Convention in Anaheim, California.

  • Bishop Sloan rocks!!!

  • I am glad to see this. What Church is there if it has, by moratorium and reasons based in fear, alienated otherwise valuable members of clergy and the community? What brings us each together in that church on Sunday is a mutual worship of God. Last I checked, there is nothing nailed to the church door saying all who enter must be perfect.

  • OOooooh....fade to dark and a dissonant chord at the end!

  • Thank you +Mark Ohio, +Bill Persell and +Art Williams.

  • What is truth? As Episcopalians we believe that the Will of God is discerned in prayeful decisions of the General Convention (Bishops and Deputites together). Are you saying that this is no longer our faith? If so, by what authority do you say this? Please don't offer the Bible to prove your point because we all know that you probably don't keep kosher or abide by many of the other Biblical regulations that you claim to be so loyal to. Now, can we get on with our mission in the world?

  • I am proud of the Bishops who voted 'NO' . They represent The Truth.

  • I am so proud of my church and my Bishop, Rt. Rev. Brian Thom. This is wonderful, wonderful news! Thanks be to God!
