The Flowers Of Romance performing live in 1990 on Greek National TV ERT2 Studio 4.

Formed in 1981, The Flowers Of Romance led the way in the post-punk/gothic rock scene during 1981-1998. They were the first gothic Greek band to make it across international boundaries and was considered by many to be one of the, if not THE, top gothic rock band the country has ever seen.

Frontman and vocalist Mike Pougounas met The Mission UK's frontman, Wayne Hussey, in 1995, and began their collaboration on The Flowers Of Romance's fifth studio release, "Brilliant Mistakes". Recorded in The Mission's Bristol Studio, "Swirlsound", Wayne Hussey not only produced, but also provided backing vocals, loops, and additional guitars for what would become The Flowers Of Romance's most successful album.

Steve Whitfield, the sound engineer for The Cure and The Mission UK, was in charge of mixing the album.

"Channel Z" and "In a Vacant Place" reached #5 and #12, respectively, on the Greek music charts, a feat virtually unheard of coming from the Greek underground music world with tracks exclusively in the English language.

In 1997, "Brilliant Mistakes" had limited release in the US and UK. This same year, Hyperium [Germany] re-released the "Brilliant Mistakes" album and their single, "Channel Z". Two years later, in 1999, Good International followed suit and also re-released "Brilliant Mistakes" in South Korea.

In 1998, Mike Pougounas parted ways and formed the industrial band, Nexus ( http:www.myspace.com/NEXUSgr ) as well as the Cyberdelia Record label.

You can now find Mike Pougounas performing with his current band, New Zero God, along with Harris Stavrakas (bass player from The Flowers Of Romance "Brilliant Mistakes" era), Dimitris "sidheog" Steves (ex-The Drops), and Michael Christou (Panx Romana and Avaton).
