On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) delivered a floor statement against Republican efforts to undermine the Federal Communications Commission's Net Neutrality rule through a resolution of disapproval.

Sen. Franken vowed to fight the resolution (H.J. Res. 37) when it's taken up by fellow senators. He also announced he would deliver 87,000 letters signed by Free Press activists (including 2,000 Minnesotans) opposing the House's effort to undo the FCC's open Internet rules, which he did later that day.

  • It can't be explained any better. Al Franken is the man. Educate yourselves. Sign petitions. Speak to your elected officials. This is incredibly important to our way of life - we don't want telecom companies such as Comcast making access to Hulu and Netflix extremely slow or even cost you more money simply because they have video on demand. If we don't act, that WILL happen.

  • Brillant words!

  • Al Franken , one of the good ones.

  • I kind of love this guy. Can he run for president?

  • Never thought I'd say this, but Al Franken is right.

  • Al Franken could be the lion of the senate someday.

  • I guess it is possible that even an utter moron eventually gets something right. Either that or I guess Franken didn't get any telecom lobbyist money.

  • i almost love this guy.
