Lone Star Swing is the brainchild of Dr Gary Hartman director for The Center of Texas Music History in San marcos, sings lead vocal here and is also founder of The Texas Swing Kings another western swing supergroup with all star pickers. Lone Star Swing is Gary Hartman-vocals, guitar, Rick McRae-lead guitar, vocals, Billy Curtis-vocals, sax and fiddle, Terry Hale-upright bass and here Gary Mortensen, dobro player, (fillin in for Paul Glasse-mandolin) has lived in central Texas for four years, where he's been active in all areas of acoustic music. He previously lived in Minnesota, where he played swing and bluegrass with several Twin Cities acoustic bands. When he's not busy playing with the Swing Kings, he hosts a weekly radio program in Bryan, TX, called, "The Hillbilly Hipster Experience". Billy Curtis is also member of The Wild River Band from Houston and picks around Texas at Western swing Festivals and with Cornell Hurd Band, Charlie Irwin, Floyd Domino, etc. Rick McRae and Terry Hale have been full time members of The Ace in The Hole Band with George Strait for over 20 years. Terry actually hired George in the 70's to sing with his already formed Ace in The Hole Band. Lone Star Swing performs every 1st Thursday at Artz Rib House here in Austin, Texas and plays many benefits , private partys and special events.
