Child Ballad no. 84; I'm (attempting to) copy Jean Ritchie. I sing much lower than she does, though, and I I quaver, lose the key, mess up the words, etc.

This is in the middle of the song. There are more verses before and after, but I'm recording it with my camera, so my videos have to be really short. Oh yeah, and the camera's microphone does nothing to improve my mediocrity.

  • Its good to me to know you liked my video :)

  • @BarbaryAllen I liked it very much! Post more when you get a chance :-)

  • you really have something interesting in the way you sing... i heard it twice... there is something in this clip i like!!

  • @BarbaryAllen Strangely enough, just today I was thinking of how I had uploaded this little clip and feeling all self conscious about it. I was singing the song again... I was fiddling with the ending of each verse... I'm really grateful for the Internet--letting me find a few people who will let me sing to them! Thanks for the comment.

  • @inatangle i need to tell that i had never heard this song before, and your clip its so short and only trees but i connected quickly with it! and your voice its really singing the song.

  • @BarbaryAllen Oh, I wish I could share with you Jeanne Ritchie singing it! Her voice is haunting and beautiful. (Unfortunately, it's not on YouTube)

  • @inatangle i really like old music too, and its the first time i heard something about her, thank you! haha i'll try to find the way to listen at her music!!

  • Thanks Rmstudio! I agree with you about that mountain way of singing.

  • I could sit on a porch and listen to this all day.. Even longer with a rocking chair and a pan of biscuits.... :) Loved it especially the way it sung.. This is truly the why I love the Mountain balladeer's way of singing songs..

  • You're very very kind! I tend to think my voice is ... not much (so don't ask me why I then do things like post little singing clips...) But it makes me very, very happy to think that you liked it.

    I do love Jean Ritchie's singing :-)
