The lives and safety of everyone who flies are in the hands of Aircraft Mechanics. That's because it is the Aircraft Mechanic's job to keep every airplane and helicopter in peak operating condition. Entry level job search and internships.

  • A&P pay is down, stress is up, airlines can't keep up with fuel cost to turn a profit if their life depended on it. It can be a fun an rewarding job, but economic factors have all but ruined it. I was a lead mech at a regional and I had guys from the majors (15+ yrs experience)working under me making less than 17/hr. Your only hope is corporate, and its no fun, all they care about is how the aircraft looks.

  • If your talking about US well i can't saything...in Canada we get respect, good pay,and all friendly.

  • FUCKIN "A" DAMNIT SONOFABITCH!!!!

just finished school and just got my AP oh fuckin well huh? maybe I'll just go into the powerplant field or UAV's shit!!!!!!!!!!

  • Airlines??? we get better pay and we do travel all over the word for training. and we fly first class whenever we want..For FREE .. by the way getting into Airlines is way harder than smaller corporate jets.

  • I am now earning 80,000 a year and i am only 19. I have been sent to trainings all over the world. love what you do. Always try to work with coorporate aviation rather than airlines. Airlines don't know who you are. to the you are just a number. You have to be good a t what you do. show your company what you a re capable of and they will instantly pay you more than youcan imagine and also invest money in you.

  • I am an ex aircraft mechanic/engineer form New Zealand. Unfortunately I think this profession is doomed. My maintenance brothers are all very experienced and capable guys and gals. However you are generally treated like crap by pilots, cabin crew and corporate. Sadly I cant recommend it as a career.

  • too late for me :(

  • So did I pal, damn if its true that sucks
