No, we don't have a problem producing junk food at low prices. But whole foods - fruits, vegetables - are sold in the cities at prices that are out of reach for the poor and are within reach for the middle class - so long as the middle husbands its cash carefully. It's possible that the source of the problem is not the decreasing availability o agricultural land but agricultural policies including subsidies that suck big time.
