@megalodonNL Except it does do a service to those of us who find the art in shredding and appreciate it for the skill, rather than the composition. Music should be a bit more fun than people decide to believe.

@megalodonNL Thank you for your informative answer and moderate tone!

Totally understanding your reaction. People who post this stuff don't understand they do Shawn a dis-service, because people who see this think he's nothing but shred. Yet, he was SO able to make actual music as well. I mailed with Richard Hallebeek, who worked with Shawn, and Shawn told him he wanted to go back to composed music. Also, there's an interview on the Hallebeek website in which Shawn says about this era you see here: "I don't play like that anymore".

I find this technically utterly mind-boggling yet musically uninteresting.

Seriously, mad skills mean nothing if it doesn't sound good >.< The constant note changes honestly sounds awful to me.

Waiting to see who's going to be able to cover what happened up there..
-
The sad part is NOBODY pays attention to the amazing drumming going on in the background.

ALL! of! the famous guitarist! would see him in memphis!
not really melodically musical, but it DOES convey frenetic emotional intensity
oh yea...and stupidly inhuman technique.
