How the hell did they manage to do such a realistic tornado so many years ago? I mean, it looks as if it's real life footage, not a movie! Even the tornadoes in twister look fake and laughable compared to this. This is so amazing!

it's pretty amazing isn't it, I agree. The lighting, the set, the sounds, and I think the lack of distracting music also made it more dramatic where the only sound one hear are the people panicking and the sounds of the tornado.

Can you imagine what it would have been like to experience the color in movies for the first time at 4:07? Back in 1939? I would have paid to see the reaction.

What are you, 12? Calm down and embrace the fact that everyone has an opinion. Twister is a great movie (and I didn't mean Night of the twister) and also one of my favorites, but the CGI tornadoes there looked fake to me, with the exception of the F5 at the end. The Oz tornado however looks totally realistic EXACTLY because of all the smoke and dust. You can't see the twister? Watch the scene on bluray, not here.

LIES ALL LIES if your talking about the movie with Bill Paxton then you sadly mistaken but if you ment night of The twister then your night but if its the frist one :P and Plus i can bearly see The Twister in its Brown and gray and whit and also black but this movie is great but Twister Just blows you away so 'Twister' wins !!!!!!!!! plus its the 1st Tornado movie i ever saw

Without the good quality cameras and technology , I think basically the "fake" look of the tornado in the film is hidden behind the tainted brownish look at the beginning and also the quality of the cameras that filmed this.....

they used a type of funnel and tiny set up of the scene. I've watched the making of the movie on DVD.
