A long time ago (back in the mid-to-late 90s) I was working on a side project tentatively called "Mindgrind". The idea had been along the lines of a "rave in a box", intended for people living in outlying regions who would little to no opportunity to attend a rave party. To that end, I created a number of animated graphical sequences - sequences which eventually sat collecting dust.
Fast forwarding a year or two, I was approached by a co-worker who put me in touch with a production company who were creating a North American version of the hit UK television series "Queer as Folk" - who were in search of a series of colourful animated sequences to use (I was told) on the video screens in the background of some of their location shoots inside gay nightclubs.
Hey, I was happy to see my stuff re-purposed - and so I turned over a raft of materials for them to incorporate. Little did I know they planned to use them for the opening credits of the show!
I'll admit, I was initially a little dumbfounded when I saw how they'd comped in the go-go dancers and cowboys, but it definitely seemed to work well together...!
