A sample of a shadow projection I did for a local haunted house. Originally this was being projected using a Torpedo projector and video from a DVD player, but now that my UltraProjector.com units have arrived, we have swapped out the hardware with the new solid-state projector. It seems much brighter.

The video is rotated so it can be projected sideways, giving the shadow more vertical room. It is projected at the end of a hallway, so as visitors turn the corner they think someone is just around the wall with a chainsaw.

  • Thanks for sharing how you did that. I'll have to check out iMovie some more - did not realize it could do that. Still weighing a good software package for windows. Final Cut may be a bit pricey for me! looking forward to seeing more of your videos on here. I dig the commercials you recently put up.

  • Final Cut Express is the low-end consumer version - I paid $99 for mine, but I think it's normally $199. Final Cut Studio, which I want, does much more and comes with more, but is like $1300.

  • Wow that is cool! I wish I'd been into video when we were hanging out so I could learn some of your tricks. I'm a newbie. What video editing software do you use?

  • This clip was done using Final Cut (Express). I recorded myself against a green screen, then bought the video in and cropped out the area around the green screen, and then applied chroma key to remove the background, and then adjusted it to be a black image and set the background to white.

I also use Apple's iMovie lately -- it supports many things these days like stabilization, green screen, overlays, etc. so it may be what I use for most projects moving forward.
