1998 Nissan Maxima SE loud/worn exhaust

After 10 years and nearly 167K miles, the original exhaust has finally worn out, thanks to the many MI winters its been thru. So far no complaints from the neighbors, but man this Max sure is LOUD!!

I've got the exact same car sitting in my garage, 104k miles on it. Still pulls like a dream, runs fairly smooth. $22k car that has lasted 11 years? Good deal.

Great car indeed. I still have this car as a spare w/ now close to 181k on the odometer. Since shortly after making this video I have replaced the whole exhaust, suspension and brakes. all OE-like.

Glad you like the max, since Oct. 08 it has a new exhaust and sounds a lot quieter compared to this video

Mate, you don`t have a shame to use a car with that sound and how do you let your muffler get so rusted? Take care of your car better.

MAXIMAS FOR LIFE. MY 98 had a similar exhaust. u know what i did? i replaced the entire exhaust system with a new one. resignator, the whole thing. I think it's time brother.

I have a 1997 i30 (exact same car) and the exhaust failed within 2000 miles of when this one failed.

Looked a lot like my old exhaust. Did a bunch of transitions with it but now I found thr one I like. 22" cherry bomb glasspack 2" inlet and 2.5" outlet to cheap exhaust tip and man it sounds great. Cheap too! I got a vid of it up on my channel. Check it out!

how much did the new exhaust run you for? My 99 maxima sounds the same, and has the same problem.

And would you say a 5 speed Maxima SE is faster than a 2001 Toyota Celica GT auto? I'm thinking of trading my Celica in for one.

she sure is rusty underneath. That sucks.. but it's nothing a good sand, rust neutralizer, and undercoating can't fix :)
