just a pointer you can find small bats in fishing stores specifically directed to knocking a fish out
these cobia, especially larger ones, get pretty mad when you gaff them and they are known to destory the insides of boats, bruise people, even break peoples legs or ankles
get a small bat, they arent to expensive and it will save you a ton of trouble should you catch a large cobia

makes me feel bad you know.... nice fish just trolling having a nice day and then it gets a spear through the face for what? nothing.

You gotta knock them out or they will tear everything in the boat up or hurt someone.

Halibut and Cobia man, kill them before they get in the boat. They'll flop around and give you nasty bruises if they hit you.
