For me this is *the* definitive live version of 'Don't Pray For Me'. Recorded at Academy 1 in Manchester on 3rd February 2006; Toby had been supporting Thunder on their UK city hall tour and this was the penultimate night but proved to be the very best in my opinion.
In fact, during this song I forgot I was recording -- I just sat and watched the band with my eyes closed and listened to the music, the vocals, the lyrics, the drums, the bass, the guitar and the audience singing along and I was reminded what a masterpiece this song is, even though it's now almost 20 years old. One of my few concert experiences where I actually got goosebumps because of the song.
There were other highlights of the tour obviously; sitting and eating with Thunder proved to be surreal, getting lost a la Spinal Tap backstage at Sheffield City Hall, hearing the tour stories from the chef who had spent two and a half years on the road with Paul McCartney, seeing the rabbit warren that is the backstage area of the legendary Hammersmith Odeon, just seeing Mr Jepson back on the stage again but this song and *that* moment were unsurpassable.
In technical terms it's not the best quality ever, although I like the very rock and roll angle of the recording (from the photo pit). I'm not sure it even fully captures what I experienced that night, I doubt any recording could have but I hope you like it anyway.........

Awesome!!!! From a time when Brit Rock was at it's best. The likes of the Angels, Thunder and Skin - they all rock but Toby and the boys were in a league of their own.
