Because they couldn't spoil the ending of the Dark Tournament and show beginning of Chapter Black (which would spoil a lot of answers...). In the middle end of the DT there are a lot of questions that need to be answered and are answered within the last few episodes of that saga, they can't spoil one of the best arcs just to show the beginning of a saga.

Um I'm pretty sure season 3 is the chapter black saga cause I looked it up on wikipedia it says season 2 is the dark tournament saga season 1 the spirit detective saga and 4 obviously the three kings saga.

I watched up through season 2 when I was a kid. I'm now just starting season 3 and am fricken stoked! Hiei is BOSS.

@TyKun04 Because each of the four seasons has each of the four main characters on the cover. Season 1 = Yusuke, Season 2 = Kuwabara, Season 3 = Hiei and season 4 = Kurama. Honestly, a quick google search for the DVD boxsets could've answered your question.
