Cadillac has finally released details surrounding the 2013 XTS as it will be revealed, in the metal, later today at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The styling of the XTS is a clear evolution of Cadillac's 'Arts & Science' design formula. While the styling is close to that of the XTS Platinum Concept shown at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, the main difference comes in the way of slightly toned down lights. The sheet metal, however, is nearly the same as the concept's.

From the satin-chrome grille and 20-inch aluminum wheels with chrome inserts, to the leather wrapped interior with Alcantara headliner, the XTS is the pinnacle of Cadillac luxury.

The automaker is quick to note that while the design is bold and elegant, it's also an efficient way to carry passengers and cargo. Cadillac states that headroom, legroom, and knee space are all generous, which is important as the XTS is expected to be flogged to livery services as a replacement for the Lincoln Town Car.

Featuring both front- and all-wheel drive options, the 2013 Cadillac XTS will come with a 3.6-liter direct injected V-6 rated at 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. Using a six-speed automatic transmission, projected fuel economy ratings of 17/28 mpg city/highway for the front-wheel drive and 17/27 mpg for the all-wheel drive are good, but not great.

The XTS will utilize GM's latest HiPer Strut front suspension, along with Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes, and rear air suspension, all as standard equipment.

As mentioned, space inside the XTS isn't an issue. With 40-inches of rear legroom, the XTS checks in with four inches more legroom than the BMW 5-Series. Trunk space is also quite spacious with 18 cubic-feet of space for whatever you may end up hauling as you cruise America's roads.

At the center of the new XTS is a ton of new technology. The main feature is Cadillac's new CUE infotainment system. Featuring an 8-inch capacitive touch screen display in the center of the dash, all the main controls ranging from climate control to radio controls, are all touch based with haptic feedback. What might be the coolest feature is the proximity sensing feature, which can sense when your fingers are near the screen.

Also part of the CUE system is a 12.3-inch reconfigurable gauge cluster. There are four driver selectable themes which each display different information in unique layouts.

Along with the in-cabin electronics, Cadillac is introducing new short and long range radar systems with the XTS. These systems will be used for adaptive cruise control, front and rear automatic brakes, and rear cross traffic alert. Another new feature is a safety alert driver seat that vibrates to alert the driver. Combine these electronic safety features with the standard 10 air bags, and we can see Cadillac is looking to satisfy both the gadget loving and safety conscious crowd.
