  • How come there isn't a crowd watching the game?

  • There was a pretty good crowd watching - they are just on the side the camera is on. The way West Belconnen is set up means there is only one hill at the end that's a good viewing area, plus the grandstand, concourse and leagues club (downstairs bar, upstairs club with glass frontage, plus the conference rooms/private boxes) underneath the camera position on the western sideline.

  • Seems strange though. With the funds NFL has you'd think they'd make more of a push for these games to be in proper stadia in foreign territory maybe.

I mean we just had the junior rugby world cup(under 20s) in japan with about 20,000 people at every game.

Japan likes football just as much. It seems strange to play a game like this infront of a few people in Ohio. When you get get bigger crowds and grow the sport in new territories. You know what I mean?

  • The NFL isn't funding this. The only foreign development thing the NFL put money into was NFL Europe, which they pulled the pin on a few years ago. This World Cup was organised by the International Federation of American Football - essentially (but rather simply) a body of the largely amateur national associations around the world. And Ohio is as good a place as any - it's one of the biggest (some would argue THE bigest)football states in the US. (Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania are the others)

  • Just noticed something else in your post that might need some clarification - the video is of a qualifier played in Australia in January 2009. The World Cup was played in Canton, Ohio, in June 2009. And if you look at some of the videos out of that, they had some decent crowds.

  • these guys are a joke, any BCS team could beat these idiots

  • No shit, numbnuts. These guys are all high school age players (16-18 years) from countries in which American football is the fifth-most popular football code. So yeah, a BCS team with a bunch of starters in their third and fourth years of playing top-flight, competitive college ball should smash them.

  • YEA BOI GO NEW ZEALAND MEEN WIN

  • Man, this is so cool to see our sport being played all over the world. Good deal and I wish everyone much success!

  • @alexsmotherhubbard hi have to disagree with you here as a fellow Australian, are u saying that Aussie dont play basketball or baseball either? These two sports are big in USA and have sucessfully been 'pushed' to our shores. I personally got into NFL from the MAdden franchise game and now im a strong follower of the sport.

  • @suffering141 thats beacuse Jake was too old to play, and JK too

  • who won the cup?

  • these guy are our best there shit...

  • Damn. There running Georgia Tech type option formations. Not bad.

  • NFL Football Is trying to be pushed into Australia, One HD (Australian Sport's TV Station) is now starting to show NFL games. For me I find watching NFL slow, As a born and raised Australian I rather watch Rugdy (NRL) or Australian Football (AFL). Trying to get Australian's to love and play American Football is like trying to get American's to love and play Cricket.
