I've got to give this props, I only knew the Gota feat Viv McKone version (bit more production to it, but it essentially keeps the song intact)...I'm assuming this one to be the original, no?

Met her when she played at Sheffield Poly Union in the late 70s. It was an 18s and over venue, yet she was no more than 17. I was among the stage crew provided by the Students Union so got to meet her at the soundcheck and after the show. Very nice lass who put on a great performance. I have the album on white vinyl and this was always one of my favourite tracks too.

I'm sorry, but if Rachel Sweet had more songs like "It's So different Here", she'd cross over to R&B like David Bowie and all others. This is R&B! I'd say, "Damn you, Rachel" out of love, of course. It's a wonderful jam.
