The four-legged robot Pithekos II was developed at the DFKI as part of a diploma thesis and serves as an experimental platform for dynamic gaits. The dynamic walking is accomplished by a lightweight design, high joint speeds and an elastic foot structure. The robot is remote-controlled and capable of performing tight turns on various surfaces.

Why not build a robot that acts like a horse? Afterall, we are humans. Maybe in the future we'll be riding robots? I'm gonna build a robot that acts like a human, but walks like a dog.

If you had the left and right sides linked with a pivot, you could have the right side go forward and the rear go left so it could rotate in place like a tank.

very cool design and use of a novel suspension! I would say its gait is more of a 'prance' though, and risk the derision.
