Snark Theater Episode 8 (feat. Lac the Watcher)

Happy New Year! Welcome back to Snark Theater! In tonight's episode, we are joined by friend of the show Lac the Watcher (lacthewatcher1 on Youtube) as we review Chapters 35-40 of the Anita Blake novel "Narcissus in Chains". What horrors will we befall? Probably those related to sex and terrible similes.

I do not own the Anita Blake novels nor the comic books owned by Laurell K. Hamilton and Marvel comics. I own only the audio for the book review. All other clips and soundbytes are credited to their owners.

Wow... this book sure has a lot of random male characters that keep on popping in and out .

Have i just got lost in the endless convolutions, but is that guy they rescued still dying while all this is going on?

@BrightEyedAthena No, Gregory's been cured and he's somewhere else at this point in the book. Good, too, because every time Anita's around, he gets hurt somehow. She's an abuse magnet.

@minaminokyoko thankyou for clearing that up :-)  with all the names and random sex it gets... confusing.

Man, the gratuitous use, abuse and OTT objectification of innocent male characters is off the scales... it's like a male version of the 'stuffed in the fridge' trope. If you swapped the sexes of all the characters in this book, there would be a lot of feminists disgruntled about this (and understandably so)...

@BrightEyedAthena Oh, most CERTAINLY. If the genders were flipped in this novel, there would be critics asking for Hamilton's head on an effing plate. But since it's "only men" we're objectifying, she gets a pass. Somewhat. She's not judged as harshly (except by me.)

So epic, I love how you sum up all of the crap in these episodes. If anything, my only complaint would be that Lac the Watcher pronounced Naruto incorrectly.
