I am particularly disgusted by the negative commentary on this page.
Wooooga2c, despite your claims to be a better artist (which stand unproven) - one thing that is obvious is that you are FAR less professional as an artist.
There is nothing worth questioning in any of these videos. This man has a ton of experience, and his skills are amazing.
Having said that, very few portraits are 100% accurate anyway. In fact, some artists may soften certain details (such as a big nose).

It's funny reading the comments claiming they are "better" when they have no proof. Also, Lon is capturing a face in a small amount of time and teaching techniques with pastels (I didn't think about the band aids until I watched this).

So glad you enjoy them, and hope that you will gain a little here and there. You can't get this kind of stuff very often, as there just aren't that many people talking about sketching techniques. Everyone is into photo realism. Not I.

haha the gurl throught the whole thing is just looking around like, wat the fuck is he talking about xD anywayz, nice portrait lon, it wuz rlly good. one thing that i notice and like about almost all of ur portraits is that there is always one thing thats different from the person and the drawing. like, just one small thing like the size of the face or the eye. thats not a bad thing, it gives it a kind of unique style. anyways, good job

Yeah, I am not a stickler for form, as much as for line style and freshness of expression. So, you compromise the form a little for the sponteneity. It is worth it. And, it is even a better likeness, with more jazz. There is alot more to getting a likeness than photo realism.
