Nearly one in eight British households has no-one in work, the highest of all major EU countries. Part of the blame is placed on a welfare system that means the unemployed are often better off on state benefits. But, as Laura Emmett reports, the issue now is the jobs aren't there whether people want them or not.

1.if u work full time what happens to ur child in the school holls child care costs also a child needs there mum around

2.would ur employer keep u on if your child has an illness

3. how can you afford to live in your house on a single income

4.unless u have a good career and equal pay to men how can you afford to pay for everything on your own

5 why r the men who leave there kids never criticised like mums who haven't abandoned there kids?

@oomoonbeam Ive seen plenty of single parent mothers take care of their child. It was hard but she managed and her child had food and was taken care of. Hard work pays off. When you want your child to not suffer you will do anything for your seed. The men arent the problem.she needs to close her legs or shouldve kept them closed.

Alot of people are on welfare even though they work FULL TIME. Because those multi billion dollar corporations that republicans love to worship so much pay slave wages and offer no benefits. Therefore FORCING people on the government dole. Please tell me how this makes sense? A corporation like walmart comes into a community and creates an environment where no other business can exist. Because they do all manufacturing using slaves in China.

4. woman get paid around the same at least where I work , again file a discrimination lawsuit if its applicable

5. They are called deadbeat dads, in fact most child support is paid by men while the woman lives at home on welfare, and if they miss payments they get thrown in jail if they can't afford it they get thrown in jail.

@oomoonbeam I think you're right, but I often wonder why do so many women get children we stupid, men that don't feel commitment and responsibility for the own children. It might sound cruel, but I can't help wondering about that. I guess you can't always before hand know is a man is gonna be a good father and take his part of the responsibility, but many times you can! That's at least my opinion when I think of the men I met that left there children, and their mother.
