I made this video to show the before and after of the radial arm saw recall for craftsman saws. I ended up putting both videos together as one with some still shots in the middle to show a few steps of the progress of the retrofit.

You can find out more about the recalls at www.radialarmsawrecall.com

    You're very welcome!

  • Thanks for the video, I'm installing my new kit this weekend. I got the saw for free and i was wondering for anyone with this model; how hard should it be to change the miter angle? After pulling the top handle to the unlock position I have to use quite a bit of force (moves the whole saw most of the time) to change the angle. If this is too much anyone know what i should be adjusting? Thanks for the great video!

It's rusted, you going to have to pull the back of the arm apart, clean the rust and grease very lightly with white lithium grease. It should be somewhat snug, but not so stiff that it turns the whole saw. There may be a stiffness adjustment depending on the saw.

If you PM me with I can give you my email and you can send me a picture and the model number of the saw, I might be able to tell you a bit more detail.

    Your welcome by the way!

  • dude, how hard to install, thanks

It is actually very easy, did not take me very long. Just have to square your rails with the blade so you have a nice even surface. You'll need a set screw, the kit does not have one, I just cut the right size of screw to the right length then cut some slits in the top for a screw driver. The set screw is to flatten the bow in the table with the blade so you can get more precision cuts.

Thanks for the tips. Its definitely not rusted on the outside, but after taking off the back cover and angle gage on the top I can see the area that needs greesed now. It looks like the origianal grease is all dried out (its brittle and flaky). I think my model is the same as in your video. Mine is "113.197751" its at least extremely similar. Thanks again!

  • thank you very much for that info. Just bought my saw yesterday off craigs list. I can really use that new table

I like the guard due to being bitten by the old school version doing everything exactly right. But to each his own, it's just here to show what is available for the saws. Your right, the solid feel of the old handle is a bit better for feel, but I am a fan of protection, table saws, radial, miter, etc.. all guards on for me.
