  • it's a gp27 clone.

  • @reddog694uk apart from it mounts differently and has no radials

  • @pepsiholic2008 Gp27 has the identical base, no radial outriggers at all, it's the same antenna, £5-8 from your local car boot.

  • @reddog694uk well, I can't find any information about the one your on about I'm afraid. The only one I could find was fiberglass with radials that point down. Unless your on about the bog standard 1/2 or 5/8 wave verticals.

  • @pepsiholic2008 Yes, Exactly. The design is the same as the one i have outside my back door. The design is based on the generic Gpa 27, Which can be sized and trimmed to operate at many frequencies, not just the one it was designed for.

  • @reddog694uk Yep. I just got told it is a cross between an Antron 99 and a half wave vertical. much better than both of those though. I have found it is a good 2 s-points better on receive and 1 s-point better on tx

I don't know to be honest. I never used an imax 2000 before. also, yes, only 1000W. I can't see why you'd need to run any more than that

  • does it out perform a imax 2000?

    only a 1000 watts?

  • @SuperGingerGiant

ah, sounds good. I was going to use it today up on the hills, but my mate who was taking me up there came in his car instead of his partner's car. we can't get the poles at stuff in his car, only in her 4X4. But never mind, I will be going up on high ground again next weekend, so, I will try it out then. I probably won't be using it as my homebase antenna as we get such strong winds, it will probably snap

  • I personally recommend this aerial. I have one set up on the apex of our standard 3 bed end of terrace in Witney, and get good reports from central Swindon & Highworth, Gloucestershire with the standard 4 watts output. It's a good, well built aerial that seems to do the trick.
