I bought my first Friesian, Coriander (Wander 352 x Lute 304), as a weanling. She is now a broodmare and will soon give birth to her 2nd foal. Cori was born in 2000 and here she is at her inspection in 2003. Cori is a pretty mare and extremely sweet. I love her a lot and am very proud of her.

I posted this video so people can see what a keuring is like, and can even hear the judges comments about 3/4 through. Also, at this keuring the jury was emphasizing "modern lines", which Cori has. She received 1st premie ster, based mostly on conformation and walk.

The jury here is comprised of Arend Mandemaker and Louise Hompe. Mr. Mandemaker was a full inspector, and sadly died this spring from cancer. He was very well regarded. Ms. Hompe was, in 2003, a judge and one of the very few women judges. She is now a full inspector (quite an achievement) and I am fairly certain she is the only female holding the distinguished title of KFPS inspector.

  • My question is why do people breed and breed when there are so many horses in the world already.

  • I have the same question about people.

  • i rode on a Friesian mare named Nikita Von Star Cross her sire is Wander i think also..

  • We may well see more approved sons from Wander, but I have this feeling that in the future he will end up being know for his daughters. They are becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands and they are producing fine, fine foals. We'll see.

  • Seems to be a nice cross. I saw a Wander x Lute mare at the keuring this year and her foal (a colt by Feike) won 1st premie, champion colt.

I truly love Cori too. She is now 5 months pregnant with her third foal. This is by Heinse. Her last foal was by Heinse too. Look for my Wikke videos. Good luck with your boy...

  • I certainly hope he has the grace and elegance your Coriander has.

  • What a lovely mare. I own a yearling friesian (Wander 352, sire and Lute 304, damsire) and he is the light of my life. I can't wait to see what he looks like as he develops.

  • Nothing wrong with breeding quality. The Europeans got it right with the Keuring process. Our american breeds will approve anything based solely on "registered" status. Some people breed for the heck of it. Some people breed to improve the breed or to produce quality sport animals. There are lots of horses out there but most have been so poorly bred that they're not much use for high level competition.

  • Thank you again for your interesting videos and didactic comments, as you always write in your videos :)

Very beautiful mare, with very good gaits.I think I might have good taste hehehe She got the Ster!

    Congratulations

I am learning a lot with your videos!!

  • Nicky just foaled this past week she was bred back to Wander and i didn't get to see her filly yet.
