For part of our year 2 assessment we had to create a soundscape to go over a recent advert made by Sky HD TV promoting their new High Definition Channels. We basically had only the video to work with and had to create our own sounds to go on top, which had to reflect what was happening on the screen. Both had to enhance or somehow relate to each other so that they made sense when together. We were also only allowed to use one source to sample from to create the sounds for the soundscape. I sampled an electric drill and had to get as many kinds of different sounds out of the drill as I could and then put them in Kontakt to use ass a MIDI instrument and then manipulate them as much as possible within Cubase via MIDI CC's and NRPN's.
Alright mate. This is pretty damn good.
I've gotta do the exact same project myself now as a solo project . Im a 2nd year doin Creative Music and Sound Tech @ Leeds Met. I was wondering if I could pick your brain for some tips and advise?
Cheers.
