Barbara Bain on Dobie Gillis First Clip

Before Barbara Bain was a spy on Mission:Impossible and Bob Denver was silly on Gilligan's Island, there was The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. The two appear together again in 1981 on "The Harlen Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island". Bob Denver passed away in 2005 at the age of 70. This may be a pre-spoof of Mission:Impossible!

Are u kidding? Maynard g. Krebbs was way better than that goofy Gilligan,and Bob Denver made that possible. It amazes me that this series from the late 1950's is never shown anywhere,leave alone out on DVD. Dobie Gillis was a treat during the teen years and Dwayne Hickman was a genius. We'll never see the likes of that ever again.

You are right about Dobie Gillis! Greatest show there was in the 50's...hands down! This was a genuine piece of "Americana"...clean, wholesome family entertainment that was truly funny! Dobie's father played by Frank Faylen reminded me of my own dad!! He tried to act tough and hard nose...but everyone knew how much how much he loved Dobie and even Maynard! Great show!

Nice to see Barbara Bain in a comedic role for once. My memories of her, from Mission: Impossible and Space:1999, are always that of a very serious, almost somber woman.

I wonder if the characters portrayed by her and her companion were modeled directly off of Boris and Natasha, or do both pairs of characters perhaps have some precedent in film or stage? (That is, a sinister yet bumbling pair of Russian spies, the female half being especially voluptuous.)

its obvious that dwayne hickman reads cue cards for the monologues its just that hes so damn good you cant really tell but with newscasters and others the moving of the head and not the eyes give it away. but about these 2 they are like boris and natasha, i loved rocky and bullwinkle as well as inspector gadget , heathcliff and so many others. dobie gilis and patti duke are my favs
