The fantastic Charlotte Hatherley performing the closing number to her set, the stonkingly catchy 'Bastardo' (from her first post-Ash solo album 'Fade To Grey'). Wish I'd managed to record a few more of her songs that night (most of which feature on her great new third album 'New Worlds'), but couldn't get much of a view of her through the crowd 'til near the gig's end. Annoying that I'd got a decent vantage point for at least the second of Charlotte's support acts James Kaine (compare my vid of his 'Plan B'), only to get jockeyed out of position when some manager I assume urged the crowd forwards once the main event showed up! If I'd not had a (female) friend with me to think about, I might have chanced a barney barging my way back to the front... Prps the highlight for me was a medley of a cracking cover of Kim Wilde's 'Kids In America', which merged seamlessly into Charlotte's own eponymous single 'Kim Wilde', thus achieving the difficult feat of enhancing what was already an awesome Hatherley number in my book. Didn't record it unfortunately since the crowd hadn't parted like the Red Sea for me at that point, though you'll see Charlotte pulling off that stunt if you watch her dive off stage right past me at the end of this vid (not a real stage dive, given lack of a raised stage!) BTW I love the contrast between her full-on rocky / punky style here to her generally far more demure / restrained approach I witnessed in Oct when she was playing guitar, keyboards, harmonium, percussion & backing vocals with Bat For Lashes: such phenomenal versatility!
Nice one.
