With all these knots there is a whole bunch of extra lace hanging.. Why the heck I am seeing really long laces of late? No, this is not a 'what's the deal about long laces - seinfeld harangue'. I am genuinely interested why the lace people are doing this and how are we supposed to deal with these long laces..

I love you!
I can now tie both my shoelaces in 3 seconds! Really!
My classmates believe that this is sorcery. They're just jealous they can't tie faster than me...
I use this for tennis the past 3 months, and believe me, they have never untied themselves.
I may seem like bias, but I promise you, TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN THIS KNOT!!! It is a life changer! A LIFE CHANGER INDEED!
@nwerneck You're right that knots that are topographically identical can nonetheless end up looking different depending on how the loops are held / twisted and how the various overlapping sections of laces within the knot shift about during the tightening stage. Sure makes them a challenge to study!

@evilbob1001 Glad you liked the knots and that you also found the iPhone app worthwhile. The grey shoes are Puma Frankenclydes, which I bought back in 2004. By 2006, they were looking pretty well worn, so I contacted Puma to find replacements. The closest we could come up with were the "gravel" (beige) ones that I'm using now. Good luck finding grey ones!
