Shinai is the word you're looking for. Shinai are primarily used in Kendo. Now a wooden Katana, is known as a Bokken is used in Kenjutsu/Iaijutsu, or Battoujutsu. What these kids are doing is goofing off, and I am glad that one took a shot in the nuts...
