Here is the controversial goal by Henrik Zetterberg. The referee was clearly holding up his whistle to his mouth. NHL rules state that if a referee is thinking about blowing his whistle, the play shall be called dead.

This video is from a DVR replay of the game. It's not live television. It's a replay.

  • I'm also really surprised that I got good quality on this video.

  • The Red Wings also get favored. I hate that! Eastern teams, the Red Wings, and original six teams all get the ref's favoritism!

  • See, I'm not biased, but I used to ref hockey games before. When the ref was putting the whistle to his mouth, he wasn't necessarily trying to blow the whistle, he was just keeping it in his mouth once he decided to blow the whistle. For example, when defencemen would wind up for clear-path slapshots, I'd start moving the whistle towards my mouth, so I would be "ready" to blow the whistle, not because I was going to at that moment.

  • I agree, that should've been dead. Man, I hate the red wings so much. Great video!

  • NO GOAL!!!
