Congratulations on getting to keep Cindy! She really belongs with a good home and people who love her! I understand how hard it can be having a sick bird too. They really are priceless and part of the family. My budgie bird Brian, has had some pricey medical conditions. He is just as happy and healthy as ever these days though. He can even talk a little. He says "Up Brian!" "Up Stewie" and "Hello Pretty Birds, Brian and Stewie!"

I agree. Macaws are priceless. There is a place in heaven with your name on it. Thank you for loving her,no matter what. I have 6 macaws and I'd sell my home to keep them with me.

I just cant believe someone would not care about their bird enough to not smoke around it. How sad, an animal having to suffer the consiquences of a smoker. Thank goodness she found you!

Thank you for the comment! This news story was run in 04/06 shortly before the trial was to occur. We were desparate to keep her with us. The media attention caused the man to offer us a "payoff". We bought Cindy's freedom for $3500.00 (Yes, we could have bought 3 healthy macaws for that price, but she is priceless!!)
She is with us, and will be until death do us part!
