  • I would go back to ground work and get a really good whoa and flex there first.

Everytime you ask him to stop back your horse up a few steps until he backs softly and flexes at the poll. It is critical that you reward all his small tries at first so be real watchful and be consistant. Use the lightest amount of pressure needed to get a result quickly. Once he is doing this really well on the ground try it at the walk under saddle.

  • Ok. i understand the effect of bending at the sides. my appy will flex/bend side to side. but i cant get a whoa or a flex vertically out of him. im tired of him being hard mouthed and im not sure how to correct this

  • Thank's for the tips! I really have good control over my horse's strides now!
